Privacy Policy

Application: Typing Test Keyboard | Effective Date: September 22, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Typing Test Keyboard ("the Application", "we", "us", or "our") handles your information. We respect your privacy and are committed to maintaining transparency regarding the minimal data processed by the Application.

Typing Test Keyboard is an Android utility designed to test physical keyboards (USB OTG, Bluetooth) and assess typing speed (WPM, accuracy). By downloading and using the Application, you agree to the practices outlined in this policy.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

Strict Keystroke Privacy Guarantee: We do NOT record, transmit, store on servers, or sell your keystrokes, typed text, passwords, or personal input.

Because this is a keyboard testing and typing speed tool, user input handling is our highest privacy priority:

  • No Keystroke Logging: Key events received from connected physical keyboards (key presses, key codes) are processed strictly in temporary device volatile memory (RAM) in real-time to illuminate virtual keys or compute typing speed. Keystrokes are immediately discarded and never persisted to logs or external servers.
  • No Personal Identifiable Information (PII): We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, physical address, or account credentials. No registration or user account is required to use any feature of this app.
  • No Background Audio or Location Tracking: The Application does not access GPS location, microphone, camera, or contacts.

3. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

To provide performance tracking and personal typing statistics, the Application stores minimal, non-sensitive data strictly on your device using a local SQLite database (Android Room):

  • Test Scores: Words per minute (WPM), characters per minute (CPM), accuracy percentage, duration, and test timestamp.
  • Settings Preferences: Audio/haptic feedback toggles, selected test duration, and sound volume preferences.

User Control: All local statistics remain 100% on your device and are never backed up to remote servers. You can permanently delete individual records or clear your entire history at any time directly within the Statistics screen by tapping the trash icon.

4. Third-Party Services & Advertising

The Application displays advertisements to remain free for all users. We partner with Google AdMob, which may collect and process pseudonymous information in compliance with Google Play Developer Policies:

  • Advertising Identifiers: Google Advertising ID (AAID) used by Google AdMob for ad frequency capping, fraud prevention, and personalized/non-personalized ad delivery based on your device settings.
  • Device & Diagnostic Information: Device model, operating system version, carrier, and general network connection type for ad optimization and performance diagnostics.

To learn more about how Google processes advertising data and your opt-out options, please review:

5. Permissions Used

Typing Test Keyboard is built to require zero intrusive runtime permissions:

  • INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required exclusively to load Google AdMob advertisements and verify network connectivity.
  • VIBRATE: Used solely to provide optional subtle haptic feedback when pressing keys or completing a typing test (can be disabled in Settings).
  • Physical Keyboard Access: Handled via standard Android hardware input dispatch (InputManager). No special accessibility permissions or custom input method (IME) installation are required.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

The Application is a general audience hardware testing and productivity tool and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal identifiable information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us immediately, and we will take appropriate measures.

7. GDPR & CCPA/CPRA Data Rights

Under regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to Erasure / Deletion: You can wipe all local test history at any time within the app or by clearing the app data in Android Settings.
  • Right to Opt Out of Personalized Ads: You can reset or delete your Google Advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization anytime via your device settings: Settings > Google > Ads > Delete Advertising ID.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may periodically update this Privacy Policy to reflect app improvements or regulatory updates. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated Effective Date. Your continued use of the Application signifies acceptance of any updates.
